UCSF Health: UCSF Health will use a model that organizes employees into two categories as shown below.

Campus: The UCSF campus will use a CBR model that organizes employees into six categories, as shown below.

  • Campus rates for 2022-23 and 2023-24 were submitted for approval to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Cost Allocation Services (CAS). CBRs went live on July 1, 2021 in UCPath. For federally approved CBR rate agreements, see the Office of Sponsored Research website
  • Contract and grant proposals should use the UCPath rates shown below, effective July 1, 2021. Please note that the Faculty Family-Friendly Childbearing/Childrearing benefit is assessed separately and for proposal budgeting purposes, the 0.8% benefit rate is added to the CBR for the faculty CBR groups to calculate total fringe benefits.  Please direct proposal preparation questions to your OSR Staff .
  • UPlan & PLUS rates shown below are for forecast and planning purposes only and are adjusted to reflect vacation time, which will not be assessed for benefits in UCPath. Departments should use these rates for employee planning in order to avoid over-budgeting benefit costs.  In UPlan, the 0.8% UCSF Faculty Childbearing/Childrearing (CB/CR) assessment will automatically be added to the corresponding faculty group rates below, effective July 1, 2023. In PLUS, the 0.8% assessment in the seeding rules will only be added to HCOMP faculty.
