Campus-Based Fees

Campus-Based Fees

The Compulsory Campus-Based Fees must be established, increased, or renewed by student referendum. These fees are levied at individual campuses that must be paid by all registered students to whom the fee applies. Such fees may be used to fund: (1) student-related services and programs, including, but not limited to, referenda-based student health insurance programs; (2) construction and renovation of student buildings and other facilities such as student centers and recreation facilities; and (3) authorized student governments (as defined in Section 61.00 of the Policy on Student Governments), Registered Campus Organizations, and student government-and Registered Campus Organization-related programs, events, and other activities.

  • Campus-Based Fees may be used to fund:
    • Student-related services and programs, including, but not limited to, referenda-based student health insurance programs
    • Authorized student governments, registered campus organizations, and related programs, events, and other activities
    • Construction and renovation of student buildings and other facilities such as student centers and recreation facilities
  • The fee referendum identifies the student population to be charged
  • All student referenda results are advisory and conditional on the Chancellor's recommendation and are subject to final approval by the President under authority delegated by the Regents
  • As of 2007, at least 25% of any new fee or fee increase must be set aside for student financial aid
  • The Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) provides coverage to medical, mental health, dental, vision, prescription and travel insurance benefits; the SHIP premium is an exception to the Campus-Based Fee policy as rates are commercially-based
