UCSF Tuition and Fees

UCSF Tuition and Fees

Summary

  • UCSF, like other universities, charges tuition and fees for participation in its educational programs.
  • Mandatory Fees include Tuition, Student Services Fee, and Non-Resident Supplemental Tuition (as applicable).
  • Revenue from tuition and fees is shared among the Core Financial Plan, the schools, student services, and a portion of revenue is used to provide student financial aid.
  • Depending on the type of charge, per policy, tuition and fee levels must be approved by the Regents, the UC President, or the Chancellor.
  • Fees related to specific instructional programs undergo rigorous analysis prior to approval. Budget and Resource Management (BRM) oversees student fee approval processes and policy compliance on behalf of the Chancellor.
  • Student fee advisory committees also provide recommendations to the Chancellor.
  • Specific charges fall into nine categories of tuition and fees, with varying policies and review practices. The categories are described in the table below, with further information available at each link.
