B-3) Funds-Functioning-as-Endowments (FFE’s)

Definition

  • Meet same definition criteria as provided in Section B-1 Gifts
  • Subject to minimum amounts to fund (contact UCSF Development and Alumni Relations [UDAR] Office)
  • Spending of principal restricted while held as FFE (contact UCSF Development and Alumni Relations [UDAR] Office)
  • Once gift principal is placed in FFE, it must be held as FFE for minimum time period (contact UCSF Development and Alumni Relations [UDAR] Office).
  • May be in the form of a bequest if source is donor funds, may be established in either the Regents (directly to UCSF) or the UCSF Foundation.
  • If source of funds is from campus funds, must be established at the Regents (directly to UCSF).
  • FFE invested in the endowment pool earns annual income. (i.e. payout) Must be transferred to Regents funds for expenditure
