D-3) Affiliated Organization Agreement

Definition

  • A written agreement where UCSF enters into an affiliation with an external organization for a defined time period for a specific purpose or purposes. Regental approval may be required.
  • Often permits the use of the University's name, facilities, personnel, or other resources in return for specified benefits received by the University.
  • Often serves as an “umbrella” for other types of agreements included in this document. In such cases, the review and approval processes for those other types of agreements may be altered from those stated in this document.
Examples
  • Provision of faculty and staff for hospital and patient care services such as those with SFGH or the SF VAMC.
  • Research programs involving facilities, operational agreements, or personnel agreements, such as those with the Gladstone Institute of Virology and Immunology, the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, the Ernest Gallo Clinic and Research Center, and NCIRE.
Overhead Consideration

Full cost of providing campus services may be charged based on the approved affiliation agreement.
