Definition

An agreement that details the terms under which the personal effort of a UCSF employee is provided to NCIRE to work on NCIRE projects and activities.
Can only cover personnel-related costs (pay, benefits, and other costs based on pay)
NCIRE work must be done at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center (SF VAMC) or in research space leased by the VA.

Review Department/Signature Authority

There are separate review processes for faculty and post-doctoral fellows and other non-academic staff.

For faculty, NCIRE sends a department-approved JPA to the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, School of Medicine for review and approval. Following this approval, the JPA is sent to the Director of Administration, (SR SVC Finance and Administration Office).
For postdoctoral fellows and non- academic staff NCIRE sends a department-approved JPA to Director of Finance and Administration, SR SVC Finance and Administration Office
For Institutional Signature: Following above approvals, JPAs are sent from SOM Academic Affairs to the Office of Sponsored Research (GBC) for final execution.
